What personal data do I collect and why

Contact forms, emails and general enquiries

I request and collect your name, email address and telephone number(s) so I can respond and reply to your enquiry. I may collect other personal data or contact information in the course of communications or conversations, whether by email, telephone, or any other means, in order to make my services available to you and allow us to do business together.

I may also collect your IP address and browser details to help spam detection, and to assist with website security.

If I receive your personal data from another source I will process the data as if I had recieved it directly from you.

I regularly review the personal data I collect to ensure it is accurate and up-to-date.

I process your personal data under the legal basis of consent, contract, legal obligation and legitimate interest. Where your personal data is held under the legal basis of consent, you have a right to withdraw and manage your consent.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on this website I collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection. Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

An anonymised string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images to this website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Cookies

How I store and protect your data

I have put in place suitable methods and procedures to safeguard your personal data. Your personal data is stored digitally using password protection, and is encrypted where possible. Computers and other devices I use are password protected where possible and kept in secure premises while at rest. Computers are password protected when unattended. Some data, for example email data, is stored on suitably secure servers with reputable companies who are are also committed to your privacy and security. Data is moved offline, deleted or archived at regular intervals as deemed necessary.

How long I retain your data

I retain your personal data no longer than is necessary for the purposes for which it is processed. The exact length of time may vary, but I will retain your personal data for the shortest time possible. This period of data retention is under regular review.

If you leave a comment on this website, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so I can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on this website (if any), I also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
